Event: [Hungarian Grand Prix](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-calendar/hungarian-grand-prix-f1-race-information/) Track: [Hungaroring](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-circuits/hungaroring/) Weather: mixed, showers throughout **Jenson BUTTON won his 11th F1 World Championship race at the 2011 Hungary F1 GP, a rain-tyre masterclass on his 200th grand prix start. The McLaren driver started third and won at the Hungaroring by 3.588 seconds from Sebastian Vettel for Red Bull. It was McLarens 169th F1 win.** ## Vettel pole, showers on the way The Hungaroring on 31 July 2011 opened with Vettel taking pole with a 1:19.815, Hamilton second by 0.163, Button third for McLaren, Massa fourth. Sunday brought intermittent showers that would put a premium on the pit wall calling the right compound. ## Race day: Button dances between wet and dry, Hamilton spins Hamilton passed Vettel for the lead on lap 3 as the rain intensified, but Button read the changing conditions best. When a light shower hit mid-race Hamilton spun, dropping himself back to fourth. Button, on his 200th F1 start, made every strategy call correctly, choosing intermediate over wet at the crucial moments, and drove to a controlled victory. Vettel second for Red Bull, Alonso third for Ferrari, Hamilton salvaging fourth after his spin. Webber fifth for Red Bull, Massa sixth for Ferrari. Massa set the fastest lap on lap 61 at 1:23.415. ## Championship: Vettel 234, Webber 149, Alonso 145 Vettels lead was 85 points as the summer break arrived.
