Thierry Boutsen, a Belgian F1 driver, was born on July 13th, 1957, in Brussels. He began racing go-karts at a young age and quickly moved up the ranks, eventually finding himself on the Formula 1 circuit in 1983.
Boutsen began his career with the Arrows team, where he spent three seasons before moving to Benetton in 1987. He quickly found success, earning his first podium finish in just his second race with the team.
In 1989, Boutsen made a move to the Williams team, where he found the most success of his career. He won three races in the 1989 season, including a thrilling victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, where he overtook Ayrton Senna on the last lap to take the win.
Boutsen continued to be a consistent contender throughout the early 90s, earning podium finishes and even a few wins with the Williams and Ligier teams. He retired from F1 racing in 1993 with 163 career starts and three wins under his belt.
Outside of racing, Boutsen has remained involved in the automotive industry, starting his own car dealership in Belgium and establishing a successful motorsports consulting firm.
Throughout his career, Thierry Boutsen proved himself to be a skilled and dedicated racer, earning the respect of his peers and the admiration of F1 fans worldwide.
