Alonso over-medicated after crash
Yet another rumour about the Fernando Alonso saga has emerged.
Michael Schmidt, the highly respected correspondent for Auto Motor und Sport, claims the McLaren-Honda driver may have been over-medicated in the wake of his controversial Barcelona testing crash.
The Spaniard had brows furrowing on Thursday in Malaysia when he denied being knocked out in his crash against Barcelona's inside wall on February 22.
Alonso, however, admits to some memory loss.
"I went to the hospital in good condition," he said in Malaysia. "There is a time that I don't remember from two o'clock to six o'clock or something like that."
Now, Schmidt reports: "We are hearing rumours that Alonso was mistakenly sedated twice -- at the scene of the accident, and again in the circuit hospital.
"The high dose would explain why his memory of the crash only returned later, and why there is a black hole between 2 and 6 o'clock.
"It would also explain why the patient spent three and a half days in hospital," he added.
