Mar.15 - The Christian Horner scandal just keeps racing forwards, with news emerging now that the woman at the centre of the allegations has lodged an appeal.

It's clear, however, that the saga is not just about allegations of bad behaviour for Red Bull's 50-year-old team boss, but a wider power struggle for control.

Christijan Albers, a former F1 driver, told De Telegraaf that Horner currently has a "terrifying amount of power" at Red Bull, which has more than riled up the opposing faction including Dr Helmut Marko and even the Verstappens.

And after Horner was cleared in an internal investigation into his behaviour, the next phase of the scandal is now emerging - the suspended woman's right to appeal Red Bull's findings.

"For all that she was suspended from the job she loves and from a sport that she is highly regarded in," a friend of the so-far silent female staffer told the Daily Mail.

"Questions need to be asked of the Red Bull investigation, transparency would bring confidence in what is happening to her," the newspaper continued to quote the source, claiming that her appeal has now been lodged.

The Daily Mail added: "The woman is appealing Red Bull's decision and has appointed lawyers to fight her corner but no timeframe has been given as to the process."

Albers predicts the saga will continue to run and run until Horner is ousted, admitting he thinks the way Horner is standing firm is "downright frightening".

"The way this has all been brushed off has made the other side particularly angry," said the former Minardi driver. "I think a lot more is going to come to the surface."

Albers thinks Red Bull could continue to thrive even with Horner out of the picture.

"Which drivers did he put in the car and which drivers did Dr Marko put in the car?" he said. "With all due respect, all the formulas for success come from Marko.

"When you really look at who has the eye on the talent, there is absolutely no debate about that. That's just Dr Marko. He always made the right decisions."

1 so either the claim that she received a million pound payoff was lies or the appeal is lies.

    2 Horner has been exonerated.

3 Horner is the team principle and has been for over 20 yrs, of course he rightly has a lot of power. Neither Joss Verstappen or Marko are even members of the team, Max is and is being paid a vast amount of money to drive for it. There is no better team and Horner runs it.

4 what makes it downright frightening?

5 Red Bull are publicly fully supporting Horner, who has been fully exonerated and is the best team manager in f1.

6 If Horner left RB he would not be out of the picture, he would be competing with RB

7 who are the supposed other side?

8All the RB drivers have been put in the cars by Horner. Marko is not a member of the team

9 Marko has made no decisions, he is only an adviser.

1-9 are facts unlike the article.

It seems that since Dieter passed away, divesting control of Red Bull Corporate that there is envy and a power struggle at the organization extending to Red Bull Racing. Horner has done a magnificent job as Team Principal since the Red Bull branded F1 team has begun. The group continuing to sow discord will eventually erode the common purpose of the team and their performance will fall off unless this is resolved sooner than later. If Horner is pushed out we are likely to see a Ferrari like fall in team performance like when Todt and Brawn left Ferrari. Since then Ferrari has had a management discombobulation that they have been unable to resolve no matter who the players are. This results in a chaotic strategy both on and off track. Because all of the interviews and arbitration are done in confidence, as they should be to protect the parties involved, the public is totally blind to who the instigators are and who are trying to seize power at RB. This leads to unsubstantiated speculation that is very biased depending on the slant of the pundit or media outlet. This makes none of the media reporting on this reliable.

Under Horners management he has won I think 10 championships, with 24 maybe its 11, no other team manager/team owner/whatever else you call him, has ever done that, Torger must be very jealous

    "Terrifying ," " downright frightening
What a useless journalist is Albers.
    Putin power is terrifying.
Horner been cleared, so what is downright frightening about him standing firm.
Why is Albers listened to at all.
Why are sections of the media keeping this story going, that is harming F1.
Lets talk about the cars the racing.

      You are correct about Albers.
He failed as an F1 driver, and continues to fail with his attempts at gutter journalism. I would argue that he isn't a journalist, only a self opinionated columnist.
I think the journo that was looking for a story found Albers hiding under a rock.
Journalists need to drop the Peyton Place petty dramas and soap operas and concentrate on the racing.

    • Geriatric Racer

YES rightly asked " Why are sections of the media keeping this story going " I thought Simon Lazenby was over the top, every time it flicked back to the presenters his first words were....Now back to the Horner story !!!!!!

      • Cutting Corners

Well there's possibly 3 Christians potentially involved in this play.

Christian Edward Johnston Horner, Torger Christan "Jackboot" Wolff, and Christian Albers Surely that's evidence enough to keep the crowd interested.

Add to that Maffiel who says Verstappen is a risk to their business , and should have his legs broken ( nothing wrong with that it's transparent!, but doesn't get any column inches) Now that should be enough to keep it going. But wait there's more! There's a chap with a funny name heading up FIA who wants a full compliment of teams on the grid

So Verstappen or ORBR and FIA need to be neutered.

Now since just prior to this anonymous tipoff to the FIA hotline and subsequent report the previously extremely vocal Wolff & Brown have submerged band engaged silent running

You'd almost think they had inside info from FIA. But that's impossible bad it's confidential.

All spare tinfoil hats gratefully accepted.

        • shroppyfly

Jackboots , ask most people and yep , theyd say German, and Torger wouldnt be the 1st Austrian to become Germanified.... (Not correct but near enough) but apparantly British........ with the actual name coming from the French language

"she was suspended from the job she loves and from a sport that she is highly regarded in," a friend of the so-far silent female staffer told the Daily Mail."
Of course she will be supported by a friend with a biased view!
If the plaintiff loves the sport so much, why did she decide to create such a public dispute which she must have known will bring the sport into disrepute. Well may she be highly regarded, however, she has painted herself into a corner where no team will be game enough to employ her now she has showed herself to be a trouble maker. Any issues should have been resolved behind closed doors without public scrutiny.
IMO the plaintiff has all the hallmarks of the age of entitlement with a foothold in the Me Too movement! Unfortunately, it's a sign of the times.
I also detect a generous helping of gutter journalism pushing it along! It seems they have already found Horner guilty, even though an investigation has found he did no wrong.
