Sep.23 - A former Red Bull driver in Formula 1 says he still has nightmares about Dr Helmut Marko.

Jaime Alguersuari was left disillusioned with motor racing altogether after he was dumped by the energy drink company's F1 program.

The Spaniard, now 32, became a DJ after quitting motorsport at the age of 25.

"At Red Bull, you didn't live in peace even with great results," he told El Confidencial newspaper. "Your rivals congratulated more than the people on your own team.

"And we had that feeling from the age of 15. Nothing was ever enough. And if you look, it's Max Verstappen's pattern with his father. That is the Red Bull school."

Alguersuari said he was so upset with Red Bull's abandonment that he entered "a very complicated psychological and emotional moment".

"I still have very strange dreams from that time when I sleep. I see Mr Marko always angry, beating me up as if I am a child. It created a trauma.

"I have not been able to clean this up even with therapy and several psychologists. Sometimes I wake up crying - I've done a great lap and still see that Mr Marko is angry.

"I never saw him or spoke to him again. When I was a commentator with the BBC I greeted him in the paddock - nothing more than that."

This is disturbing but not unexpected, this is a dog eat dog industry where the senior management live of the success and reflected glory of the drivers.
The same mistreatment is common in many sports as has been reported in the press.

In the words of a late great horse master ‘nothing forced is beautiful ‘

Or some might call it good old fashion abuse
Especially when the feedback received informed us that he sought the help of mental health professionals

Why are we not surprised ..... Marko is just an autocratic a...hole and a bully. Dietrich Mateschitz doesn't care, because Marko keeps the name of Red Bull in the headlines whether it be for good or bad publicity. After all, it's keeping the name of Red Bull in the headlines for all to see.
However, in the case of Jaime Alguersuari he couldn't take the heat, so he got out of the kitchen! Wise move to get out of a toxic environment like that. Mark Webber did the same!

I Understand and to a large degree accept the critique fired at the Doc, HOWEVER, if those names are aimed at Marko, and the soon to be 6. count em SIX WDC titles his team has produced , then the same traits can be levelled at the feet of Ron D and another title winning team owner but ultimately unpopular person Bernie, so maybe to be successful , you have to have that complete and utter ruthless streak ? But how to describe the success of the Dame and Torger..!
