The Azerbaijani Government has announced that it will be simplifying VISA procedures for F1 fans and media travelling to Baku this summer for the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe.

The revised VISA application procedure will greatly ease the way in which media and fans will be able to gain entry to Azerbaijan with F1 tickets ahead of the inaugural F1 race in the country, taking place on the streets of Baku this June 17th-19th.

Anyone travelling to the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe will now be able to have their VISA application processed at one of several VISA desks at Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport upon arrival. The only requirement asked of fans and media is that they display the following documents:

A Permanent F1 media pass (or proof of FIA/FOM permanent media accreditation) for the 2016 Grand Prix of Europe
A ticket for the 2016 Grand Prix of Europe
Proof of purchase for a ticket for the 2016 Grand Prix of Europe

Those media, who have FIA/FOM approved race-to-race accreditation for the 2016 Grand Prix of Europe will be able to process their applications online via the official Baku City Circuit (BCC) website. The opening of this process will be announced in due course.

Commenting on this news, BCC’s Executive Director, Arif Rahimov said: “We can’t wait to welcome the world to Baku this summer and today’s announcement will certainly ensure that F1 supporters from all across the globe can join our party here in June. The simplified procedure will hopefully encourage even more fans to visit our beautiful city for what is sure to be an incredible race weekend experience. “
