Ferrari should consider making Sebastian Vettel the 'number 2' driver behind Charles Leclerc.

That is the view of former highly-experienced Ferrari engineer Luca Baldisserri, who was speaking after Vettel's latest performance at Silverstone which sections of the Italian media called "disastrous".

"I think Vettel is an overrated driver and not Schumacher's heir," Baldisserri told the Italian podcast Pit-Talk. "He has made so many mistakes and must rediscover himself.

"But he is still a driver who has won four titles," he added.

At the same time, the Italian media is heartily promoting the burgeoning talent of 21-year-old Leclerc.

Baldisserri said: "If Leclerc keeps maturing and becomes the top driver, he will still need a teammate who can support and help him.

"I believe from that point of view that Vettel has the experience to be a high level teammate."

This "Terrazoni" Luca Baldisserri is crazy. Who pays him for this? Look how much the Ferrari Crew has screwed up Seb's car and made mistakes in Strategy, slow Pit Stops, tires not available, almost sleeping performance of Pit stop personell, bling timings, incorrect set-ups......That is the support they gave to a world-class driver? I can tell you, if this Italian mafia continues to tun Ferrari, the F1 is not anymore something Ferraris should spend a single "Lira" on. Where is Ferraris's Management to shut up an imbecile lie Luca?

All this talk about Vettel, he has entertained the public on a great many occasions over the last two years, a skid here, a donut there, he a fun guy and no trouble to Lewis. Let him stay where he is.

I am one of most ardent supporters of Sebastian and I find it so many comments about him very disrespectful and unjustified and hurtful as he has always tried his best to engage in the races and give his best shot even when the team have not given him the best car or right strategy and he needed to push himself to the limit and hence some errors were inevitable which certainly provoked critics to write him off as second rate driver and that is totally heart wrenching and they are all trying to get him retired or expelled from the team. This is absolutely disgraceful treatment of a such a decent man and great driver and he does not deserve it. F1 is turning itself into very thing they are trying to avoid ,and people will not be with this sport much longer as it becomes farcical and lacklustre.Perhaps it will be the best thing for Seb to leave 'the club' and head for pastures new and experience freedom from F1 stifling environment .Who really cares who is fastest on the track as it does not lead anywhere and it is all vanity in the end ,hardly anybody will remember the scores or drivers or their victories or failures around the numerous circuits they have lapped around. So please do not put anybody on a pedestal and worship him as hero-god.

So a guy that drives a desk chair is smack talking a 4 time F-1 World Champion? I guess that about sums it up. Nobody cares what you think chief . I think Leclerc is a good driver and have been following him since he started in F-1 but he has yet to come anywhere near what Vettle has done in and for F-1. I can't wait for him to win his first race and I hope he does become a world champion.
