Mattia Binotto says those at Ferrari "expect more" from Sebastian Vettel.

At the mid-point of the 2019 season, some think the German driver is clearly in crisis.

The quadruple world champion disagrees.

"Crisis would be if I had no idea how to do better, or if my speed wasn't there," he told the German broadcaster RTL.

"When things are going well and not going so well, I know myself best," Vettel added.

Notably, drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are publicly supporting the 32-year-old.

"I told you that I haven't been reading much about myself, so unfortunately that means I don't see the positive things either," Vettel smiled.

Ralf Schumacher thinks Vettel is overdriving because the Ferrari is "too slow".

"Vettel is therefore taking significantly more risk in order to have any pace," said the former F1 driver.

Ferrari team boss Binotto was also asked about Vettel's current situation.

"Clearly he has made mistakes, as in Silverstone," he said. "His pace is good, and sometimes it's not a mistake but just part of racing.

"What we have to do is be honest and say 'We expect more from him' and 'maybe he has not been as good as he was in qualifying," the Ferrari chief added.

"But he remains very relaxed and focused. He will find a way to improve things," Binotto said.

Seb needs more support and a more reliable car from Ferrari. A driver of his calibre should be treated as a Number One driver and Charles who is definitely a future champion should be nurtured or he will be pushed to Breaking point.

Fetrrari need good on straits, always since starting, corner speed lacking, apart from Schumi era, no other time has corner speed cost Seb or Ferrari so much, dont look as Seb he is using the tool his been given losing 0.3 on corners is pretty big, Ferrari need to change the chassis. closer look at Merc it seems the car has a minute articulation in mid or rear to assist in cornering. Ferrari has straight line speed, reducing this by 2km/h to assist in upgrading the aerodynamic package on the chassis to corner is for me the solution.
higher average speed around a lap is better than very high speed in straights slow down lose time in corners producing a less than perfect slower lap.
