Valtteri Bottas has praised the Williams design team for improving last year's car ahead of the new season.

The British team are notorious for hiding their true pace in pre-season and practice sessions, so it was no surprise to see them focus on reliability.

Bottas and Felipe Massa both seem impressed though, and the Finn hopes it can help them bridge the gap to Mercedes and Ferrari

"We can feel improvements in areas we attacked," he said. "If it's going to be enough, it's too early to say.

"The car feels better than last year's car, I'm feeling positive, but we still have no idea where we are.

"The main thing is we can see we have improved many of the weaknesses of last year."

Williams are in danger of being challenged by Force India and Red Bull this season, as pre-season has clearly indicated that Mercedes and Ferrari will be strong again.

The new season starts in Australia next month.
