Bottas not worried about Ocon threat for 2020
Valtteri Bottas has dismissed suggestions his Mercedes adventure could end after 2019.
The Finn is signed up for next year, but there is speculation Esteban Ocon is happy to sit out 2019 because he is lining up Bottas' full works seat for 2020.
Asked if that is a worry, Bottas said in Austin: "My future depends only on me.
"If my performances meet expectations, everything will be fine. If for some reason I don't get results then it will be my mistake.
"But if everything goes the way I am planning, I have nothing to worry about," he added.

Bottas is doing a great job for Mercedes but Toto Woolf would be mad to not look to the future after Hamilton and bringing forward proven talent like Ocon is essential while he can learn from one of the greats. I would not be surprised to see a change for 2020
I think you are right David. I suppose it depends on how Valtteri performs next season and whether Hamilton wins this year and next too. I suspect if he gets to six WDC's and Valterri is doing well and the relationship between them is as strong as it is now then it will be difficult to break the partnership because Mercedes will be entirely focussed at that point on the potential for equalling and even surpassing the Ferrari/Schumacher dynasty. If Ferrari can take 2019 then I believe it will give Ocon the best chance of starting in a silver Arrows in 2020. Interesting times though and Ocon does look like a very good talent.
Ocon is in par with Perez. I don't understand why everyone touts Ocon as a super talent. That would imply Perez is exceptional as well.
