Williams driver Valtteri Bottas hopes that some new updates can help to further bridge the gap to Ferrari.
The Italian team has overtaken them in the pecking order this season and have become the second fastest team on the gird, behind Mercedes.
However, Bottas managed to beat Kimi Raikkonen at the Spanish Grand Prix, and claims that the gap between the teams should come down even further.
He told Sky Sports: “It was a positive race because we were much closer to Ferrari than any other race so far. The updates we brought here were small but it appears we are doing the right thing.
“We didn’t expect this race to be a particularly strong race for us but it shows that we are definitely doing the right things. In Canada and Austria we have updates to come and they should be bigger steps than we had here.”
Both Canada and Austria should play to the strengths of the car, although a repeat of Felipe Massa’s pole position in Spielberg last season is unlikely.
