The famous Brabham name has been revived and will return to motorsport from 2015, with the aim of returning to Formula 1 in the future.

‘Project Brabham’ is a scheme devised by David Brabham, son of founder Sir Jack, and he will lead them into the World Endurance Championship next year.

This new re-incarnation will see the possibility of fans being able to buy a stake in the team, with the hope that this can finance the business.

David said: “I have dreamt of seeing the Brabham team back on the track, winning at the highest level.”

A Brabham team hasn’t been seen in F1 since 1992, when Damon Hill drove for the team.

The Brabham team won the World Championship four times. Sir Jack Brabham remains the only driver to have ever won the title in his own car, as he won in 1966 and 1967.

Nelson Piquet, also a three-time champion, won with Brabham in 1981 and 1983.
