Jaded Hamilton is there for the taking

It seems that Lewis Hamilton is already winding down for the winter break, and who can blame him?

The world champion has spent much of his time since claiming the title at lavish parties by the sounds of things, and it took its toll when he crashed his Pagani Zonda into three stationary cars this week.

Nico Rosberg must be licking his lips, as Hamilton’s preparation for this race has been far from perfect.

The German won around this track a year ago, and has plenty of confidence after securing pole in the last four races and won in dominant fashion in Mexico.

Practice two put Rosberg almost half a second clear, which makes the overwhelming favourite for the win.

Raikkonen v Bottas Mark III

A fascinating sub-plot to the last few races of the season has the all-Finnish battle between Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas.

The pair has collided in each of the last two races, and Bottas is said to be one of the leading contenders to replace Kimi if he leaves Ferrari at the end of next season.

Both have a score to settle, both have a point to prove and we hope both will be proving the entertainment on Sunday.

Red Bull chase optimism for new year

Pheew…It’s been confirmed that Red Bull are indeed staying in F1. And the grid will be much better for it next year.

However, what this saga has proven is that they will not settle for being second best. It hurts the overall brand.

Renault and Red Bull’s relationship is fractured. It needs to be mended.

Only winning can truly knit it all together again, but a strong team performance and a perhaps a podium finish at a track where they could go well would be a big plus.

It’s time for another Brazilian cracker

Brazil has a reputation for delivering brilliant races. But two of the last three have been largely pedestrian.

This year has the potential to be far better and with wet weather a possibility, we could be set for another Brazil classic.

Rosberg and Hamilton’s thawed relationship this year has gone out of the window, so expect fireworks. Bottas and Raikkonen will face off again, with Felipe Massa trying to get in on the action in his home race, and then there is Max Verstappen, who is providing a lot of entertainment in his first year.

Bring it all on.
