Jun.18 - F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has admitted the sport may be heading to Nice, France.

Paul Ricard's existing French GP contract expires after next month's race at
Le Castellet, near Marseille.

"You are probably not aware, but there is an incredible project in Nice. They want a grand prix," he told L'Equipe, having recently travelled to South Africa for separate talks about a return to the calendar for Kyalami.

"It's great, because it proves that other destinations in your country (France) are interested in Formula 1," Domenicali told the French correspondent.

"We will look into the details and study it carefully. All I can tell you is that by the end of July you will know more about the future of your grand prix.

"Historically, France is an important nation in motorsport," he said.

Curiously, the Paul Ricard event is headed by Christian Estrosi, who doubles as the mayor of Nice.

He doesn't deny the latest talks with Domenicali.

"Nice is now at the centre of all interest as a destination of the most prestigious sporting events," Estrosi told Nice-Matin.

"One day we are talking about the arrival of the Tour de France, the next day we are talking about the French GP. It is pleasant to be envied rather than pitied," he added.

Interesting, if the French GP location changes, albeit somewhat unsurprising as Nice's location is more favorable access-wise than the Le Castellet area.

The fans will come regardless of where it is , as for the teams , this yr they are coming from Austria to france, and that's by truck so again doesn't really matter where the track is

Well quite right, however as much as i basically dislike the french (calais migrant situ) even they aren't stupid enough to do a Mickey la souris circuit

C'mon, Shrop', of course they are. When battling $$$, stupidity has no limits. Enjoy the race. For some reason I am sensing a RB miscue. Maybe I just want to mix it up a bit so the season doesn't become a total snooze.

Obvious negotiation tactic, let a few things out to the press that Nice is interested in order to push up the price to Paul Ricard.
