Jan.21 - Taking a big step forward in 2021 "will not be easy" for Ferrari, according to the Maranello team's former boss Stefano Domenicali.

Domenicali has now taken over from Chase Carey as Formula 1's CEO, but he was asked by Italy's Sky Sport 24 to comment on his former employer's notably poor performance in 2020.

"In contrast to what happened last year, we all need a competitive Ferrari. We need a Ferrari that comes back, but I realise it's in a difficult context," he said.

However, Domenicali backed Ferrari to make obvious progress this season.

"I am convinced that things will improve, even if it will not be easy with regulations that are stable," he said. "They were able to work a little on the power unit to close last year's gap.

"Now, I expect a Ferrari that is close to the goal of being able to fight again. I think even team principals like Toto Wolff and Christian Horner also wish for it so that we have a show that is more attractive for everyone."

Camilieri bears most of the blame for Ferrari’s slump in 2020. He did not have the courage or the wherewithal to resist the change in regulation in mid season 2019 which was very unfair to Ferrari. Marchioni would’ve never accepted these changes because he was a stronger manager than Camilieri.

Better to take care for all teams, ok he has been at Ferrari but it is not neccessary and apropriate to have a special care for Ferrari and not mentioning the others. No one mention or take care for Williams, Mclaren etc. Attention for every team for a better and fair F1

Who says that he will take special care of Ferrari, I am sure he will be fair to all teams and not punish clever development developed by any team .eg. Mercedes front suspension Ferrari oil for fuel usage and or all the teams that were not targeted

My expectations and your expectations are personal opinion. We don't have influence in F1 policy. Who needs to be careful is him , and according to this interview it is a special care. He should be neutral, instead of word Ferrari should be the words - every team - .
"we all need a competitive Ferrari"
"I am convinced that things will improve"
"Now, I expect a Ferrari that is close to the goal of being able to fight again"

*This is support and motivation in distance, and this approach is not good at all for F1

F1 doesn't need only a competitive Ferrari. F1 needs also a competitive Williams, Mclaren etc. Why he doesn't speak for them. In other words F1 doesn't need only a competitive Ferrari, it needs a competitive and close battles between the teams. All the teams needs attention in order to have a fair and better F1 for all of them
