May 26 - Formula 1 will look into whether modifications can be made to the fabled layout of the Monaco GP.

Seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton went into last weekend's race in the glamorous Principality declaring that the sport's fans "don't enjoy it" on television.

"It's been going on for years and I think we have to change that," he said.

Indeed, Sunday's race was processional and Hamilton said he thinks even the winner, Max Verstappen, would have been bored as he "cruised around".

Now, F1 sporting director Ross Brawn says that while it will be difficult to modify the tight and twisty layout so the racing is more exciting, Formula 1 will still try.

"It is Monaco and we have had a cursory look at it with nothing obvious, but we will keep trying," he said.

Brawn said he is not open to artificial "trickery" like mandatory pitstops or special 'overtaking areas' on the track.

"I don't think we should do any of that," he confirmed. "But we will certainly look at the track. It will not be the first time that someone has tried to make changes and nobody has got anywhere so far.

"But we do have tools now, our simulation tool for example, and our people will certainly see if there is something we can do."

Pathetic Fia, If all the drivers had gone to them and said change the track OK but 1 Sir Lewis Hamilton and Brawn is wetting himself.

Ill say again 5 wins from 5 poles in Monaco since 2013 from the Merc team and no one said a word , least of all MB or Lewis.

And --Brawn said he is not open to artificial "trickery" like mandatory pitstops or special 'overtaking areas' on the track. Theyve already got DRS so whats he on about

F1 is losing imo credibility when one driver shouts and they jump even if it is SuperNooodlesLucy

Much ado about nothing. They have already sanitized Spa, PLEASE leave Monaco alone. HAM whining after what was unfortunately, for him, a bad weekend and they talk about track modification? Race strategy and avoiding the fences have always been a big part of the Monaco allure.

Doesn't matter what changed. The point is Ross the boss is listening. Part of the perks when you're the GOAT.
And the cars are the widest they've ever been. Valid point!
The huge irony of it all is y'all complain about Lewis whining when all you haters do is whine about Lewis Lol. Entertaining it is.

This street circuit is past it's use by date, lets just go somewhere else with some room to overtake, that or ( just for laughs ) slow the cars to only 100 MPH...

As someone said the F1 cars are now at their widest, look back to (ancient) times when Clark, Surtees, G Hill, Moss, Gurney, etc all raced at Monaco and you clearly see how much more room cars and drivers had for overtaking at various points around the circuit. The cars, also with one and a half liters engine capacity were not much more than half the width of todays cars making for more overtaking although even then it was not easy. In years to come will cars be more than half the width of the track? Then their really will be a train.

LOL LOL Robert, great observations about car widths (they are now ridiculous), but 'ancient' is NOT 50-60 yrs ago. Dare you to say that to Mario as he is truckin' around the track giving his passengers a thrill at Indy this weekend. Some of us were just then learning to race while being awed by your mentioned drivers' talents. Again, LOL and appreciative smiles.
