Ferrari has reportedly made Sebastian Vettel a new contract offer for 2021.

Recently, it emerged that the quadruple world champion had rejected the Maranello team's first offer - a new one-year deal with a slashed pay-packet.

Italy's authoritative La Gazzetta dello Sport is now claiming that Ferrari has come back with a second offer - a deal for 2021 and 2022.

His pay, believed to currently be around EUR 30 million a year, will be slashed to EUR 12m - precisely the same as teammate Charles Leclerc, the sports daily reported.

It is suggested that Ferrari wants Vettel's answer by the end of April, otherwise the team will ramp up its negotiations with other drivers like Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz.

When asked by Antena 3 if his son will be signed by Ferrari for 2021, Carlos Sainz's father and namesake answered: "I have no idea."

Vettel's time in Ferrari is over he can't do better and don't acept be 2º in team behind team mate Leclerc.
So my opinion should be Ricciardo with experience and italian ancestry would help him to aprouch to the italian crowd.

I am not sure how much Vettel really likes to remain with Ferrari but if he stays there he knows that he and Charles are on equal terms and he has a small chance of regaining world championship. I just assume he is looking to move to McLaren where he would have a fresh start and then he can again enjoy driving without a huge pressure and I am convinced he will thrive and achieve great results.

I agree with the above points, mostly. I think Vettel is going to arrive at the same conclusion that Ferrari doesn't have its ducks in a row mechanically as well to keep up with the rest of the pack. I think a move to Mercedes, which I'm sure they'll take him over Botas, would be his way out of the unreliability factor. then all he has to do is drive..

Vettel has limited options at the moment. I don't think Vettel will sign to drive a car that can not win a championship and their are only 3 cars with a chance and he drives one of them already. He will sign a 2 year deal with Ferrari or not at all. He doesn't want to be another Alonso on the outside looking in yet. With a 2 year deal if he doesn't excel he can leave after 1 year with his head up.

I guess if Bot beat Ham half the time would he be a fine driver, yes? I don't have any stats in front of me but I think BOT has been second HAM more than Vettel. Botas is #2 on a team with perhaps the greatest driver F1 has seen and gets dissed.
