Ferrari has plans to increase their Driver Academy as they hunt home-grown stars.
The team want to increase the number of young drivers they can choose from, with the team having signed only one driver under the age of 27 in the last two decades.
Jules Bianchi was hotly tipped to progress to a Ferrari race seat until his life-threatening crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.
This leaves four other young drivers as current academy drivers and team boss Marco Mattiacci says they are ready to expand.
Ferrari F1 Fans
“We are trying to make some tuning, but I think the strategy is to bring on board more and more young drivers and be more proactive.
“I hope to have around me more young people as possible to have a pool of talent which I can poach for the future of Ferrari.”
The academy was set-up in 2009 but no drivers have yet to graduate to the first team. Sergio Pérez is the most high profile driver out there but Ferrari considered him to inexperienced to give a drive to and he went to McLaren.
