Oct.22 - Formula 1 has ousted yet another race director.

After the highly controversial 2021 championship finale in Abu Dhabi, the sport's full-time race director Michael Masi lost his job.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is still furious.

"Human error - or an error human," the Austrian said when asked about the decisions surrounding the decisive final safety car period of the ultra-intense 2021 tight fight.

"It changed the result, and it would have made Lewis (Hamilton) an eight time champion and the best there ever has been," he said at Harvard Business School.

With Masi out, the FIA came up with a new race director structure in which Eduardo Frietas and Niels Wittich would alternate the post from 2022.

But after a series of controversial decisions so far this season, including the presence of a recovery vehicle on the track at Suzuka, a new FIA review has not resulted in the expulsion of race director Freitas.

"From the United States Grand Prix in Austin and the following races in Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi, Niels Wittich will assume the position of race director with the support of race control staff," the FIA confirmed.

With the budget cap scandal now raging, Hamilton said in Austin that it's a "confusing time for fans".

"I mean, I don't think the sport's trying to make mistakes," he said, "but we're going to continue over the years to be coming up against things and hurdles."

Earth to Lewie, fans don't give a rat's ass about the backstage gobble de gook or a gazillion page rule book. We care about fast fire breathing cars driven on difficult tracks by first rate drivers.

ROR - rubbish old racer more like, don't speak for everyone for a start and whilst RB don't care about the rule book and cheat their way to 2 WDC most fans think intergity is important.

F6,, I don't agree with your Backlash at ROR why,, because he knows what he's talking about and he is a staple forFi comments & I'm most surprised that Shropp hasn't had his say. Cheat you say, did you not hear what CH had to say about that kind name calling, such as RB staffs kids being bullied at school because their parents work FOR RB because people like you, Zak brown, sir Lulu, Toto, LN, to name but a few, is your patience so thin that you can't see through the mist and Wait for an official result before you jump to conclusions. Egg all over your face if your wrong. HA! 😜

Donalf, thx for the + but I've learned to ignore Awardguy and perhaps he will disappear along with Jaxwad. He would claim the sun rises in the east if it gets a response. lol

The only confusing thing for the fans is whether they'll be another retire/not retire situation regarding the Dame, myself, my money is again on a Nico.... got in quick after the 2nd race was was it , where he wanted to give up..!! Now he and his Dad are all smiles and throwing around this "we don't really care attitude"

My friend, I agreed re a Nico two seasons ago, but it's time for us to move on. The hamitude is now, "Yeah well, several of these kids are faster than me, but these MB dorks are still writing me a big check. (chuckle-chuckle) I'll stick until they turn off the tap."

FIA hasn't 'ousted' Freitas but merely stopped RD rotation for this season's remaining events. Next season is another matter.

I thought Christian said that Hamilton was already the best ever?
