Romain Grosjean has today admitted that he has an opportunity to drive in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race this season for Haas.

The Frenchman opted to leave Lotus and sign for the new Haas F1 team, the sister team to Gene Haas’s NASCAR outfit, in their debut F1 campaign.

He has got off to a fine start this season, and could make a leap across the pond for a Sprint Cup race.

“Definitely, I want to do it,” he said.

“It’s something we’ve discussed since day one and it would be a great experience.

“When it happens, I don’t know. With 21 races it’s quite tight.

“You don’t want to start on an oval, I wouldn’t be very comfortable.

“We will find what is possible to do.”

Grosjean is preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend and hopes to score points for the fourth race.
