Team principal Gunther Steiner is in a positive mood after Haas F1 made a problem-free F1 debut in the first winter test in Barcelona.

The newcomers completed 281 laps, more than both McLaren and Manor on their way to a respectable opening weel.

Steiner thought they would have more reliability problem than they did, but insists there is still a lot of work to do before the season starts next month.

"We are pretty happy with progress of testing," he said.

"We didn't anticipate we could get all this running done this week.

"To do a whole race distance was pretty cool so that gives a good feeling.

"We would have liked to put a fast lap in at the end but we ran out of time because we had the electronics issues.

"We expected more problems or to run less."

The new season begins in Australia on March 20.
