Lewis Hamilton cut Nico Rosberg's championship lead to just 11 points with victory in the Austrian Grand Prix, after a last-lap crash between the pair.

Rosberg looked set to win his third straight race in Austria, but the pair collided when Hamilton attempted an overtake and the German's front wing was broken.

Rosberg limped across the line in fourth behind Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen - who panicked Mercedes in the early laps.

Rosberg, who started seventh, was brought into play by the tactical decisions of Mercedes and Ferrari, along with Sebastian Vettel's retirement - a tyre explosion down the main straight.

Vettel was leading before his tyre gave way as attention turns to Ferrari, who once again failed to demonstrate any tactical nous.

However, Mercedes could be in trouble as Rosberg faces an investigation for causing the collision and driving a damaged car.

Hamilton made a fast start but Ferrari looked good in the early laps, forcing Mercedes to extend Hamilton's opening stint.

This brought Rosberg into play as he pitted early and made the under-cut work with a series of flying laps.

When Vettel's tyre gave way, the safety car came out  but Mercedes were still forced to pit both of their drivers again as their tyres wore out.

It looked like that would be enough for Rosberg to hold on, but Hamilton managed to take advantage of traffic and Rosberg's brake problem to win.

Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth, ahead of Jenson Button, Romain Grosjean, Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Pascal Werlein.
