Lewis Hamilton insists his discipline helped him to win the German Grand Prix, after an error-free performance sent him 19 points clear at the top of the table.

The world champion stormed past Nico Rosberg at the beginning and from there he was dominant, as he controlled the race and claimed his 49th career win.

Rosberg fell back and finished fourth behind Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, and Hamilton admits he was delighted with his performance.

“A big thank you to everyone who has come out.

“To see so many people here is great. What a race, what a fantastic start.

“It was just about keeping it cool. This is a very proud position to be in and thank you to the team, who did a fantastic job.

"I didn't make any mistakes so in my heart I'm happy with what I did. Yesterday was not perfect but you learn from those things.”
