Hamilton gets Post-Race 5s time penalty
The stewards of the 2019 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix have decided to give 6 times WC Lewis Hamilton a 5 second time penalty for the overtake that ended up in a collision with the Red Bull of Alexander Albon.
The Mercedes driver who at first was classified 3rd, dropped 4 places with the 5s penalty to P7. A bit of a pitty for McLaren driver Carlos Sainz who moved up a place from 4th to 3rd and also won his first ever Formula 1 podium today, but couldn't experience the podium because of the late decision.
Pierre Gasly who finished a remarkable 2nd in the Toro Rosso scored the second podum of the year for the Italian team and also his first ever F1 podium.
This said, the third place wasn't even secure yet for Sainz, as he also was under investigation by the stewards for using his DRS under yellow flags.
Kimi Raikkonen would than have became 3rd if Sainz also got a time penalty. Alfa Romeo's last podium was Italy 1984.
