World Champion Lewis Hamilton has said that his Mercedes team-mate, Nico Rosberg, has pushed him to find new levels this season.
Hamilton secured his second world championship during the last race of the year in Abu Dhabi after a season-long battle with the German.
Hamilton, who had a tumultuous relationship with his 2007 team-mate Fernando Alonso, believes things were “maybe tougher” with Rosberg.
He said: “But you always want to have a fierce competitor, a tough team-mate, because they help you raise your game.”
Rosberg and Hamilton clashes several times during the season, and their relationship became strained as the season progressed.
Hamilton also commented that his former team, McLaren, would be “smart” to keep Jenson Button.
