Daniel Ricciardo has regained his top form after an impressive display in Hungary where he finished third and beat team-mate Max Verstappen.

The Australian has struggled since his near misses in Spain and Monaco this season, with Verstappen getting the better than his Red Bull team-mate in the last three races.

But Ricciardo was the best of the rest behind Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in Budapest, and boss Christian Horner was delighted with his performance.

"It was an important race for Daniel just to re-establish his confidence," said Horner.

"He was on it all weekend and I'm very happy with the weekend that he's had.

"It was a great race for him - a confidence booster for the second half of the year.

"Daniel has had some bad luck in the early part of the year.

"It tends to level itself out over the course of a season."
