Romain Grosjean maintained Haas F1’s impressive start to pre-season testing as he posted the second quickest time on day three of the first test.

Nico Hulkenberg set the quickest time, 2.7s clear of Grosjean, and completed 82 laps in Barcelona.

It re-emphasises the positive feeling surrounding Force India, who have clearly improved from last year.

Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest for Ferrari, although he only completed two laps in a troubled morning blighted by fuel system problems.

Nico Rosberg and Mercedes continued to impress as they racked up the laps before lunch.

Lewis Hamilton replaced Rosberg in the afternoon and completed a further 88.

After two tough days, Renault were in much better shape at the hands of Kevin Magnussen – who ran for 111 laps and finished fourth quickest.

However, Magnussen did cause two red flags, while Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz also suffered reliability issues.

A hydraulic leak limited Jenson Button to just 51 laps, while new Manor driver Rio Haryanto spun in the morning.
