Dec.21 - McLaren, founded by a New Zealander but famed as the oldest active British team in Formula 1, could soon be 100 percent owned by Bahrain.

Rumours this week suggested the Woking based parent company McLaren Group, headed by American Zak Brown, was shaping up to hand over full ownership to Mumtalakat - Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund.

Already with a significant majority stake in McLaren, Mumtalakat then essentially confirmed that it was making moves that insiders believe will lead to Bahrain acquiring all the shares of McLaren's minority shareholders.

McLaren's "shareholders have unanimously approved a full recapitalisation of the Group", Mumtalakat announced in a statement.

Earlier in 2023, Forbes estimated the current value of McLaren's Formula 1 team at $2.2 billion.

Most people will do just about anything for a big pile of $$$. With a $2.2 billion evaluation, or even half that, how can you say no?

This is a sad day for F1 and the British. Partial ownership of F1 teams by the sandguys has become the norm, but this is a whole new level. Papaya no more.

Ron had an Arab partner, and for many years it worked well , till the Arab stabbed him in the back, and plotted his downfall, moral of the story is,Never trust an Arab in business that left a nasty taste in my mouth, this is the final nail, and proves that all todays shareholders care about is $$ and not the sport, get ready for the sandmen to buy Ferrari next

Spot-on Shroppy. I have had 2 business dealings with Arabs, and got ripped off in both. Needless to say, I would never trust an Arab again for a third attempt! They couldn't lie straight in bed!
I agree that the takeover of F1 teams by Arabs is a retrograde step onto a very slippery downhill slope. Sad day for F1. We are witnessing the demise of the F1 we all love.

The Mtc was and still is an iconic building, there was and still isnt anything like it it in f1, designed by a world renown British architect, cost many millions, but Ron wanted the best and got the best, take Astons new buildings, argggggg, it could be any industrial estate in any country in the world, dull with zero style and class, as for Arab influence, if we look at history, the British Gov had the opportunity to get a big foothold in the oil wells of the region both economically and politically and it blew it, this influx of Arab influence is just another example of past mistakes coming home to Bite Imo-- now i must start being Festive lol

At least Santa’s reindeers will enjoy the slippery downhill slope, especially with all those sacks of gold to drag around.🎄Merry Christmas🎄

That would have been a good theme for Bernie’s Christmas cards .

    Be positive
F1 will carry on as normal despite who owns what
The only difference will be is who gets the profits
Teams are part owned by numerous countries and individuals so why not the Arab countries?
