Pierre Gasly has until the summer break to up his game at Red Bull.

Since stepping up from Toro Rosso to replace Daniel Ricciardo, the Frenchman has struggled alongside the on-form Max Verstappen in the sister car.

In Austria, for instance, Verstappen won while Gasly was a lap down and seventh.

"That can be partly explained by the fact that we had a new front wing, which was a big step, but unfortunately we had only one left for the race and Max got it," Red Bull driver manager Dr Helmut Marko told Auto Bild.

"Nevertheless, Gasly has to improve, especially when overtaking. He has to deliver by the summer break, but I'm sure we'll get him there," he added.

    Bwahahahaha!
The man is given three races to erase almost 80 points deficit to Verstappen. Marko must've asked the stewards for the calculating blueprint (2+3=4) to come up with this target.

Kvyat has been through this s****t a couple of years ago, and I, sure as hell, hope he turns them down if they offer to move him from TR to RB. Marko and Horner, hands down, are two most despicable character. The only one to give them run for their money, perhaps, is Wolff.

If drivers are not performing, any team will move them out, They're in the business of winning races, not social work. The team manager in any sport who thinks he's there to win a popularity contest has chosen the wrong job. Some drivers can cut it in F1; some just can't make the jump, however successful they've been in lower formulae. Magnusson's dad was a notorious case at Jackie Stewart's team, for example.

Theoretically that is so. When it comes to RB there is little evidence to support the theory. When Vettel left RB Daniil Kvyat was moved up to team up with Daniel Ricciardo. Kvyat handily outdrove Ricciardo. Why didn't RB demote Ricciardo back to TR?

Gasly is in deep trouble! He even got lapped by his teammate Verstappen last race! Which other driver that gets lapped by his team can still have the faith it will allright soon? Can't believe Helmut Marko still has patients he can pick up the pace?

I'm not sure it's a matter of patience for Dr. Marko. I feel it's just that he doesn't have all the elements handy to put a nice solution in place. If he moves one the TR boys to RB, how is he going to fill in the blank? You could see the despair last year when Ricciardo called it quits!

The worm is turning. RB knows many of their fans are decent fair people following a team owned by a global brand touting 'energy is goodness'. A not so successful RB team using a revolving door mentality elimenating young people mid season in desperation is not a good look. So much is open now about athletes and mental health, Dan Ricci didn't leave just because he was offered a huge financial opportunity elsewhere, and Pierre will almost certainly drop off the F1 map when axed by RB. Kyvat is just proving a point until he gets a better offer. Those of us decades long fans know that It's a different world from the early days of the sport and what worked then won't always work now. Too bad if Pierre is turfed out, he seems like a talented kid.

      You are so correct.
About a year or so ago a Russian driver Artem Markelov said "I would never drive for Helmut Marko. He has ruined careers of so many young drivers."

Mercedes may be the most successful on the track, but when it comes to being mean-spirited RB is certainly not a slouch!

The performance clause in their Verstappen contract may finally expose them and bring the whole shop down. They keep bringing in and getting rid of the drivers. One driver they desperately latch onto, Verstappen, may leave them if the car underperforms. And what then? Back to peddling glorified version of Coca-Cola!?

Before Gasly was promoted to RB he was skiting that he would be beating Max. Well, the chickens have come home to roost haven,t they. He just does not have it.
