Max Verstappen has matured over the winter.

That is the view of his boss at Red Bull, Dr Helmut Marko. With the departure of Daniel Ricciardo, 21-year-old Verstappen is now the clear team leader.

"Max is still very young, but mature," he told Algemeen Dagblad newspaper.

"I already noticed it during the Barcelona tests. In other years he thought testing was boring and saw it as a chore, but this year I saw enthusiasm and concentration."

Verstappen has also been accused of impetuousness in the recent past, but Marko adds: "We will also see a patient Max this year, who understands that he cannot win all the races.

"Without that (approach), you will not become a world champion."

I don’t think he is stupid at all.... he lured Adrian newey back in the day to newly RB team.... guided and supported vettel to 4x world champion.... kept RB retiavely competive for some time... his words might not be kind to some but he’s definitely not stupid

        I agree: definitely not stupid.

I'd rather characterise him as brutal and insensitive. The way he treated Kvyat is deplorable. He came back with his tail between his legs asking Kvyat back, and yet he goes out of his way to present it like he is doing Kvyat favours.
He has now started unloading on Gasley.

Marko behaves and acts like a veritable slave driver.
