McLaren racing director Eric Boullier has said that he is happy with how the team has progressed on day two of the second pre-season test in Barcelona.

McLaren weren’t expected to complete much running today after an engine issue yesterday, which isn’t due to be fixed until tomorrow.

However, Fernando Alonso drove more than 50 laps for the team and finished seventh fastest.

Boullier told reporters: “It is good to finally put some laps on the board and get the programme back over the boundary- we have actually done more things today than we were expecting.

“So we are catching up on our programme. I am happy with what we are doing, we are not looking for performance as we have a long list of system checks.

“Our aero plan has been done today in full and we have been doing some set up work on the car for the first to understand how the car is reacting, and so far so good.”
