In this exclusive series we continue to delve into the never before seen areas of the McLaren Technology Centre. This week Miles McAlister talks us through the role of the clothing assistant and what it takes to keep both the drivers and the race team kitted out throughout the season.

Calmness under pressure is a chief skill, timing being vital, since Miles's 'clients' need every item labelled, packed and ready for travel in time for departure to each meet during the motor-racing season. It is all part of the fast-paced international racing calendar.

The clothing assistant's domain, covers everything imaginable, apparel-wise, from Hugo Boss suits to the humble balaclava. Speaking from within the jam-packed clothing warehouse at the McLaren Technology Centre, Miles runs through the sequence of tasks that precede each departure of team and drivers. An impressive inventory of garments and accessories accompanies each participant.

As he discusses the importance of picking out garments to correspond to each driver's vital statistics and to cover each appearance during a race fixture, the distinctive McLaren colour combinations are strongly in evidence.
