Nico Rosberg has won a dramatic Monaco Grand Prix, after his Mercedes team cost Lewis Hamilton an easy win.

The championship leader led for the majority of the race but came into the pits for a second time under the safety car, after an incident between Max Verstappen and Romain Grosjean.

However, he came out behind Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel and had to settle for third.

Earlier on, Hamilton was utterly dominant and was set to win his fourth race of the season. He started on pole, and surged away from Rosberg, who was preoccupied with keeping Vettel behind.

But the race changed when Verstappen drove into the back of Grosjean, and Mercedes called Hamilton into the pits. They thought he had enough time to get out retain his lead, but he narrowly missed out.

He tried all he could to get by on fresher tyres, but Vettel remained firm in the final 10 laps.

Further back, Daniil Kvyat came fourth for Red Bull ahead of his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen.

Jenson Button scored McLaren's first points of the season by coming eighth, but Fernando Alonso retired.
