Nov.17 - Ralf Schumacher says it's "a shame" that the epic Mercedes versus Red Bull battle for the 2021 world championship is spilling into an off-track war.

Reigning champions Mercedes has announced that it has lodged a "right of review" with the FIA regarding Max Verstappen's controversial turn 4 driving in Brazil involving title chaser Lewis Hamilton.

A statement said "new evidence" has come to light that was previously "unavailable to the stewards at the time of their decision".

Indeed, Mercedes' Toto Wolff had hit out at F1 race director Michael Masi and the stewards' "embarrassing" decision not to penalise Red Bull's Verstappen for running himself and Hamilton off the track without contact.

Masi acknowledged that evidence from Verstappen's forward-facing on-board camera, which has now emerged and been widely published, might be a 'smoking gun' that could trigger such a review.

Schumacher said Mercedes' decision to request a review is "somewhat understandable" given the importance that a retrospective penalty might have to the outcome of the championship.

"But it's a shame that it's happening like this," said the former F1 driver.

"Racing without all this background noise would be better."

Some expressed disappointment with Verstappen's defensive driving, because while he may not have actually steered right to push Hamilton out in the left-hand bend, it is certainly possible that he could have actually made the apex.

"No," said Felipe Massa when asked if the Dutchman should have been penalised.

"I agree with the stewards because he did a clean job of it. He didn't commit any violent manoeuvres to push Hamilton out, he just opened his shoulder a little.

"And this is what we want to see, right?" the Brazilian told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Wolff, though, is unapologetic.

"This will all be dealt with by the FIA in the next few days," the Austrian told Sky Deutschland.

"We cannot just let this stand. Decisions were made that we cannot accept."

Be surprised if it changes anything as it was just not obvious enough. Max is just to clever and experienced to get caught, all he had to do was run it in to fast then run wide knowing there was no way LH could cut inside. Problem is I can see this occurring again and deciding the F1 WDC.

Toto is someone who wants everything his own way. The race is over they won. The stewards made their decision , leave it at that.
I won't buy a Mercedes while Wolff carries on like this. Bad PR for Mercedes.
Hamilton knocks Max off the track at Silverstone where Max could have beeb killed or badly injured. He should have been disqualified. If not for that DNF and the DNF where Bottas took several out Max would be well in front in the Championship. He deserves to win it.

It's obvious you don't know what you are talking about, for example “beeb”, are you actually watching what is going on, THE DUCKING FUDGEMAN is swerving all over the track to block Lewis from overtaking him and then we have read these idiotic comments from lunatics like you when this moron ends up off the track, remember Monza that's where someone could have been killed at the hands of verstappen or are you swallowing the bs that people feed because you can’t think for yourself.
You and max need to grow up and he needs to take responsibility for his actions, stop DUCKING AND WEAVING when other competitors are behind him and have a more than a legitimate chance of overtaking him cleanly and safely, or else we all have to read bleeding hearts comments, totally pathetic.

Les & Johann Crafford, you're both incorrect because either you are not watching what is going on or you are just producing a lot of hot air because you are being fed the wrong information.
Before the incident at silver stone occurred, max was swerving all over the track when Lewis was behind as he always does (which is a no-no) and as a direct result when Lewis saw the opportunity to go for the overtake max didn't like that and decided to close the gap, only thing is the fact that max ended up in the weeds, again if you recall the incident at Monza, that's where someone could have been killed not at Silverstone but most definitely at Monza and at the hands of max verstappen and now as we see again at the Brazilian GP, max is up to his dirty disgusting bad sport tricks. He should not only penalised for that incident but also suspended for the rest of the season, or to have 50 points deduct from his tally.
This immature little shit needs to go away and be taught that swerving all the time is wrong and he can only come back when he can prove to everyone that he has learned the correct way of driving an F1 car competitively and fairly because he is always going to be called a little shit and as we saw at Brazilian GP the crowds are going to boo him because nobody likes bad sports.

Quote of the race goes to Perez. "Get Max to give me a tow". 😄
His teammate battling for the title must slow down to give him a tow? Hammer had the poor guy nervous to the point of talking rubbish. Lol

Another idiotic comment from a johnny come lately that doesn't have an inkling about F1.
Swerving and blocking is not allowed rules are rules, you need to get a clue.
If max continues to behave like a child and blocks faster competitors behind him and gets punted off the track, then we who do that know and comprehend the rules will have to read comments from tools like yourself.

You are brilliant, I wish was more intelligent just like you, your parents must be so proud of you, now make sure you eat all of your vegetables so you can grow up big and strong, off to bed because tomorrow it’s going to be a big day at preschool and don't forget to bring an apple for your teacher, she'll appreciate that.
