No F1 return for German GP next year according to CEO
Sep.16 - Germany will not make a return to the Formula 1 calendar any time soon, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has warned.
"I have the feeling that the organisers have no faith in themselves to host a grand prix anymore," the Italian, no doubt pointing his remarks to former F1 venues Hockenheim and the Nurburgring, told Sport Bild.
Domenicali compares the German organisers' reluctance with those in charge of the new and now highly popular Dutch F1 GP at Zandvoort.
"Just look at what happened in Holland," he said. "Zandvoort is sold out for the next three years."
It is believed that amid the ongoing uncertainty of the remainder of this year's schedule, the 2022 Formula 1 calendar will be released in a matter of days or weeks.
Domenicali is eyeing a record 23 races next year.
"I can imagine about a third of the races in Europe and the others around the rest of the world, starting in Bahrain," he said.
"We have requests from Africa and are negotiating in the south and the north, plus one or two places in the Far East - Korea, for example."

Z'voort is a lousy example. If it weren't for VER it wouldn't be viable. Losing legacy tracks is a function of the ridiculous sanctioning fees. We are headed for a Sandland based series with excursions to other parts of Asia and the Far East. That's where the money is. Can't wait for the Yemen GP with Bedouin corner workers armed with AK-47s.

Perhaps North Korea? Kim Ying Yang could use the rest of the country's funds to sponsor it, with cruise missile flyovers at the start.
Just don't get how can a country as big and wealthy as Germany with a strong interest in cars from the ground up not have an F1. Money, the root of all evil, oh well it's the American way I guess.
Indeed, it's crazy! Germany is a huge car producer! Home of Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen and Opel. Would be great if the Nordschleife was back on the calendar.
25 million for hosting a F1 GP, is of course a lot of money.
If vw come into f1, id like to think f1 will be back in germany, as I recall vw was/is owned 20% by the local state, so a good way to promote Germany overall
