Esteban Ocon could force his way into the Renault team next season if he impresses at Manor for the rest of the 2016 season after being announced as a driver today.

Ocon will replace Rio Haryanto for the remainder of the season after the Indonesian failed to secure the necessary funding his contract required.

Ocon will compete alongside Pascal Wehrlein which will give race bosses a clear indication of his quality.

"It is an outstanding opportunity for Esteban to gather mileage and race experience in a young, stable and very professional team," said Renault F1 team managing director Cyril Abiteboul.

"Esteban will be up against a highly rated and quick team-mate, which will enable us to evaluate him in a representative environment.

"I hope this experience will be of great benefit for him and for Renault in the near future."
