Jolyon Palmer has urged the Renault team to fix the issues which have plagued them this weekend, as both drivers failed to make it out of Q3 in China.

Palmer will line up 19th for tomorrow’s race, a stark contrast to his display in Australia in the first race where he finished 11th on debut.

But Renault’s form has nosedived and the team are in danger of a miserable season.

"In Melbourne the performance was there, in Bahrain it was falling away, and here it is catastrophically bad," Palmer told Autosport magazine.

"I need to understand it and that's what I'm going to do tonight really.

"I think there is something fundamental that we're missing. You can see it clearly on the data and the balance but we can't understand what's affecting it.

"So we need to have a bit of a delve into the data."
