Perez close to new Force India deal
Unpredictable Mexican, Sergio Pérez says he is close to signing a new deal with Force India for next year.
Perez has had an erratic first season with the team and has been outraced by his team mate, Nico Hulkenberg.
But it has long been expected that he will stay with the team in 2015, due in part to his substantial financial backing.
Speaking to Formula1.com he said: “I believe there are big chances of me staying here. We are quite advanced in negotiations so let’s see where I end up.”
“There are not many options out there that would be better to where I am, so there is no reason for me to move.”
Perez joined Force India in order to re-build his faltering reputation after a disastrous 2013 season with McLaren. Perez was released after just one year, in which he was shown to be out of his depth at such a big team.
However, the 24-year old has shown glimpses of his potential this year including a podium in Bahrain. He will hope that he can finish the year strongly and close the gap to Hulkenberg in the standings.
