Nov.14 - Former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde has signed with Pirelli as a test driver.

The 30-year-old raced for Caterham in 2013, but is arguably now best remembered for taking Sauber to court early this season.

Van der Garde did some testing with F1's official tyre supplier at the wheel of a GP2 car recently, and he has now signed up for a proper Pirelli development role.

"It's a good job that allows me to do many kilometres," the Dutchman is quoted by De Telegraaf newspaper.

Referring to his recent test days in Barcelona, van der Garde added: "They were happy with my feedback, which was in line with the data they had.

"For Pirelli it is important to have a good driver who can help with the development of the tyres."

Van der Garde is also hoping to get his racing ambitions back on track, and will test a DTM car at Jerez in December.
