Kimi Raikkonen has revealed there is an option for him to extend his Ferrari contract into next season.
The Finn was signed by the team on a two-year deal last year, and was expected to retire from the sport at the end of the 2015 campaign.
However, the 35-year-old has hinted that he would like to remain with the team for another season if, as expected, this season’s car is a vast improvement on last year’s failure.
In Jerez, he said: “There is an option on the contract. It’s up to me, up to the team to do a good job this year. If it goes badly and I don’t sign it, it’s not the end of the world.
“The aim is to do well and there are good signs. Everybody’s happy and I’m sure we can do a good year and we will see what happens in the future. I don’t worry about it. We will find out at some point.”
Raikkonen had his worst ever season in F1 last year, as he finished 12th in the drivers’ standings.
