Red Bull has denied it timed its car launch to deliberately clash with reigning world champions Mercedes.

There is no love lost between the top teams, with Dr Helmut Marko last year describing fellow Austrian Toto Wolff as "persona non grata".

Mercedes had already scheduled a 'rollout' test for its 2019 car for next Wednesday (13 February) at Silverstone, before Red Bull suddenly followed suit.

Marko, the top Red Bull official, denied it was a deliberate ploy.

"That was just because our car was finished two days later than planned," he told Auto Bild. "We will be driving on different parts of the track, so it should not be a problem."

Does Dr Marko know the actual meaning of the term "persona no grata"? From what I have seen, read and heard about Toto Wolff, nothing could be further from the truth.
Sounds like a case of jealousy and is not becoming of the position Dr Marko holds at Red Bull.

He can say anything he wants because he is a really good friend of Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz and he knows no one can fire him. So he likes to insult team officials and rival drivers just because he can. However, no one likes him other than some Dutch diehard Verstappen fans.

Good question. I, for one, am more interested in Red Bull, but I am just one man, and I always side with the underdogs. Since Mercedes are reigning supreme they'll get all those whose motto in life is "Everybody loves the winner!"
