Red Bull Racing Signs Pérez for Two More F1 Seasons
Oracle Red Bull Racing is thrilled to announce that Checo Pérez has signed a two-year extension to his current contract, securing his future with the team.
Since joining Red Bull Racing at the end of 2020, Checo has experienced his most successful seasons in Formula One, culminating in a second-place finish in the 2023 Drivers’ Championship. This achievement marked the first time the team secured a one-two finish in the Championship. Checo's contributions were pivotal in clinching the Constructors’ World Championships for Oracle Red Bull Racing in both 2022 and 2023.
At 34, Checo has amassed five race wins, 29 podium finishes, and three pole positions with Red Bull, including the first-ever pole position by a Mexican driver. The Guadalajara native has earned nicknames such as the “King of the Streets” and the “Mexican Minister of Defence” for his significant role in Max Verstappen’s maiden World Championship in Abu Dhabi, 2021. His successes have solidified him as the most accomplished Mexican driver in F1 history.
Christian Horner, CEO and Team Principal, expressed his enthusiasm: “Securing our driver lineup for 2025 is crucial, and we are delighted to continue our partnership with Checo. Consistency and stability are key for our team, and the combination of Checo and Max forms a formidable duo, as demonstrated by our historic one-two finish last year. Checo has had a strong start to 2024 with second places in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, followed by a podium in China. Despite recent challenges and increased competition, we have full confidence in Checo’s ability to return to top form. Last season was extraordinary, and retaining our titles will require hard work, but our lineup and overall team strength position us well for the closely contested Championship ahead.”
Checo Pérez shared his excitement: “I am truly happy to extend my future with this fantastic team. Racing for Oracle Red Bull Racing presents unique challenges both on and off the track, and I am thrilled to continue this journey and contribute to the team’s illustrious history for two more years. Being part of this team is immensely challenging, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. We face a significant challenge this year, but I have complete trust in the team’s bright future and am eager to be part of it. I want to thank everyone for their trust in me, and I aim to repay that with stellar performances on and off the track. We have much work ahead and many more championships to win together.”
