Apr.14 - Aston Martin boss Mike Krack admits he would be "lying" if he tried to say two key appointments haven't given the team a major performance boost.

Much of the credit for Aston Martin's sudden performance surge in 2023 has been attributed to Dan Fallows and Eric Blandin - high-profile aerodynamics signings from Red Bull and Mercedes respectively.

"I would be lying if I said we didn't benefit from the expertise of those two," Krack told Auto Motor und Sport.

"The approach is different in every team, so it gave us insight into how we do things. Do we need to make adjustments?"

And the latest big name linked with a move to Aston Martin is Red Bull's technical guru Adrian Newey, whose current contract is said to be up for renewal.

"There's always going to be rumours in this paddock. That's Formula 1," Red Bull team boss Christian Horner told Sky.

"We don't talk about contracts or longevity of contracts, but he'll be here for many years to come.

"It's great to have him with us for the long-term, but also to be involved in projects like some of the things that we're now getting involved in," Horner added.

Another key part of Red Bull's long-term strategy is Max Verstappen, who despite being under contract until 2028 has been vocal lately about the sport's direction.

For instance, he is no supporter of F1's latest sprint race format tweaks to qualifying and practice sessions.

"We're heading into seasons where you have 24, 25 races, because that's where we're going to head into," the back-to-back world champion said.

"And if we start adding even more stuff, it's not worth it for me anyway. I'm not enjoying that."

Horner admits Red Bull may be facing the prospect of losing 25-year-old Verstappen from Formula 1 altogether within a few years.

"Max is his own man and he's very, very strong in his opinions and on his outlook on what he wants to do in his life," he said.

"And I don't see him being a Fernando Alonso and still racing at 41 or 42 years of age, or maybe not in Formula 1."

Who starts these rumours? Mr. Newey has proven himself to be probably the best designer in our sport, and he has done it for decades in several different venues. He currently has the best job in F1. He is worth more to RB than Horner or Verstappen, and he knows it. Unless RB pulls the plug on F1 support, he is not going anywhere.

Definitely not to AM , can you imagine Papa Smurf laying the law down to Newey, At the moment his favourite Son is doing the bizzo(at the moment), Lance needs to step up a few places , the cars obviously got speed

It will be interesting to see how Max reacts if or when he gets serious competition. He has experienced the extreme stress of 2021 and clearly dos’nt relish the prospect of a 25 race + sprints season at that level.
The money men ignore the fact that cars have a human being in the drivers seat. No Olympic athlete would contemplate a 25 event season or anything like.
If he stops enjoying it , as Damon Hill says, get out quick and find something else. If he stays and gets beaten his credibility will be gone, if he had handed the lead back in Abu Dhabi he would be a legend., in a way like Fangio letting Moss win but he is no Fangio.

Max deserved to win Abu Dhabi. Everybody is just concentrating on that 1 race in 2021, but how many points did Max lose over 2021 by being taken out by Hamilton and Bottas. If HAM had any fair thinking about him he would acknowledge Max deserved to win the 2021 title. It's not Max is no Fangio it is HAM is no Fangio.
Anybody who thinks fairness would acknowledge Max deserved the title in 2021.
As for Newey unless Aston Martin can find a way to pay him a whole lot extra without busting the budget
there is no incentive to go to Aston Martin unless he wants the challenge of yet again producing a title winning car at another manufacturer.
      Those are my humble opinions.

Everybody is just concentrating on that 1 race in 2021 No , Not everyone, over " the season" Max was just Better, Lulu, just cant get over 21 ,happy days Rb plowing on, a couple more WCC and the Rb team as successful as Merc, except RB have done it pre hybrid and hybrid yrs with different mfrs the rest just floundering around, crying, taking selfies and bitching still, Im loving the whole thing liberty might be ruining f1 slowly but im still a fan , if Bernie was still running it,would certainly be less bullsh*t about Imo

With RB sponsorship for the long term being an uncertainty owing to the new vastly different management team at parent company RB, Newey may well be contemplating a move to a new team and a new challenge. If Aston can afford him, and if he decides to jump ship, he would be a great acquisition who certainly has the ability to take Aston to the sharp end of the grid!

Fangio and Hamilton should not be used in the same sentence

Fangio is rated the best of all time in any vehicle

The car won the 7 titles and Lady Lucille was a passenger as results have testified
