Renault in Mexico instructed its drivers to limit comments about their exclusion from the results of the recent Japanese F1 GP.

The French team has decided not to appeal the disqualification, even though it says a brake balance display system was "fully legal and innovative".

Nico Hulkenberg commented: "I don't think it's something that is going to strongly affect our competitiveness on the track, so in that respect I am calm."

Daniel Ricciardo agreed that Renault simply needs to move on.

But there are different opinions in the paddock. It turns out that the Renault system was a read-out on the steering wheel that told the drivers which brake balance to set per corner.

Racing Point reportedly became suspicious of the system after an onboard go-pro video of Daniel Ricciardo's first laps in the 2019 car emerged in the winter.

"I don't know because I haven't tried what Renault used, but in principle it would give you an advantage," said McLaren's Carlos Sainz.

But Renault sporting director Alan Permane insisted: "If this is the benchmark, then any information the driver has about tyre temperatures or anything else is also a driver aid."

Yep, the drivers knew about the scam and are now told to keep quiet. I would not want these 2 on the grid if I were an F1 driver!

Cheating your way to the top and being paid 20 M to do it Riccardo- hang your head in shame boy!

Pam - Still talking from your back bottom. you say cheating your way to the top. well let me tell you all about cheating Hamilton as been doing it for years, i.e. telling Valtteri to slow down let Hamilton past to win on many occasions. I do not hear you slagging him off.. really Pam you have a really bad case of take side for one and not the other.

Disagree with Pam. Daniel has never been one for cheating. Nor has Lewis. Grow up. Decision by Renault. Ferrari have done similar things. All have in an attempt to gain performance. It is the name of the game. Extremely high competition

John, man-up and admit it- Renault were caught cheating- Ric is overpaid and under performing even with a driving aid! I doubt anyone will touch Nico with a barge pole now he has been caught in the act- even if Renault made him use the system!

How can F1 have cred if we accept that all teams are cheating- as you say!!! The drivers may as well pack up and hi hone.
