The European Grand Prix in Baku is likely to take place in July next season, according to reports.

Azerbaijan will become F1’s newest host when a street race takes place around the capital, and will feature in a condensed 2016 calendar.

Organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have announced that the season-opener will take place on April 3, while AUTOSPORT revealed that the Chinese Grand Prix will run a week later.

The German Grand Prix is set to return in its usual July slot, which would take the total number of Grand Prix’s to 21 next season.

It is believed that the European Grand Prix will take place on July 17, two weeks before the race at Hockenheim.

The new calendar is expected to throw up some interesting changes, with both Russia and Malaysia finding new slots.

Malaysia could run back-to-back with Singapore in September, while Russia is expected to kick off the European season after the Bahrain Grand Prix in April.

In other twists, the British Grand Prix is set to run back-to-back with Austria, although they could swap places in the pecking order, with the Silverstone event running at the end of June.

The season is likely to finish in Abu Dhabi.
