Formula 1 has rejected the opportunity to revolutionise the rules for next season, according to reports.

The F1 commission met in Geneva earlier today, but plans to make cars wider, increase power and reintroduce bigger tyres have been turned down.

AUTOSPORT says that teams are concerned about cost, with the rules more likely to be reintroduced in 2017.

It has been reportedly agreed that more time will be spent on plans, to guarantee that they will improve the sport.

Today was seen as the last chance for any rule changes to be agreed with the majority of support, putting a realistic end to them coming in for next year.

It is unlikely that the sport’s smaller teams agreed to the voted in favour of the change due to the increase in cost it would cause.

Ferrari released an impression of what a future F 1 car could look like, which has sparked debate.
