Ricciardo confident of seeing off Verstappen

Daniel Ricciardo backs his ability to beat Max Verstappen during their battle at Red Bull this season.

Verstappen has joined Ricciardo at the team after being promoted from Toro Rosso to take the place of Daniil Kvyat.

The Dutchman is tipped as a future world champion but Australian Ricciardo is relishing the challenge of seeing him off as he did with Sebastian Vettel and Kvyat.

“I have confidence in my ability,” he said.

“I don’t want to be naïve with these young guys coming up, even Daniil, I know he was quick on his day and I expect Max to be quick as well. But we will see.

“I feel now that I am driving well, I am happy where I am, the people around me, the engineers , and the people who I really deal with on weekends – I am happy with that crew.

“So I think I am in a good level to perform well, and we will see how it goes.”
