Daniel Ricciardo insists Red Bull can be proud of their first double podium in over a year after he and Max Verstappen finished second and third in the German Grand Prix.

The pair both got ahead of Nico Rosberg at the start of the race and they held him off for the rest to come behind Lewis Hamilton.

Red Bull are no ahead of Ferrari in the standings and Ricciardo was happy with his day’s work.

"That is two weeks in a row I've been on the podium and it is great to have the race back here in Germany,” he said.

"This is the first double podium for us in over a year and it is awesome to close out the first part of the season like this.

"My mum and dad are here and it is great to have their support. I see a few Australian flags, and I appreciate them and the support.

"It was a race of strategy first and on the super softs I was much more comfortable. We couldn't win but second and third is not too bad."
