Ricciardo gets grid penalties for swapping power unit items
Upcoming Sunday Daniel Ricciardo will have to start the 2018 German Grand Prix from the back of the grid in his Red Bull due to several grid penalties.
The Red Bull RB14 has been fitted with new Renault power unit items. The car got it's 3rd MGU-K, the 3rd energy store battery and his 3rd electronics device. The swapped items are good for a 20 places grid penalty.
The Red Bull team didn't swap the combustion engine (V6), MGU-H en the turbo yet. After both free practices on Friday the team will decide whether or not theses items also have to be replaced.
Team boss Christian Horner said: "We don't know if the combustion engine has to be replaced, later today we know more."
