Daniel Ricciardo says he has no regrets about leaving Red Bull.

The Australian stunned the F1 world last year by announcing that he is leaving the top energy drink-owned team to join Renault.

"I would not have been better off at Red Bull," Ricciardo told the Dutch publication Formule 1.

"I'm happy with where I am.

"People often say to me 'Look at Max and where he is'. I'm not saying this against Red Bull, but they are exactly where they have been for the past five years," he insisted.

"Last year they had won three races at around this point of the season, now they have just won for the first time.

"I definitely don't regret my move to Renault," said Ricciardo.

He admitted his results at Renault are "not yet great", but added: "I am very happy with the team and what I see here.

"And most importantly, I'm happy with myself and what I'm trying to build up here with the engineers."

At least he's walking the talk for Renault. I'd like to see him at Ferrari if Seb decided to move on, would be good for both parties and the Tifosi. 'Danny Ricciardo The Movie', coming soon to a track near you.

You'd like it. But would Binotto? I suspect that he wouldn't. The last thing Ferrari needs is its drivers drinking from their shoes on the podium.

Winning is everything in F1. Ferrari love-love-love to win.If you win and then drink out of your shoe to celebrate, you still won.

Yes, but that is the problem: if you win, you get to drink out of your shoe; if you don't win you don't get to drink at all.

Ricardo might be in for an extended dry spell.

Everyone is having a dry spell except Hamilton. Look, if you want robots driving the cars then you also want unexciting racing, who cares if someone celebrates, as long as they win, it's about WINNING my staid PC friend. Maybe you need to go to a few of the races and get your head around why they do it and why winning is meant to be such fun.
